Still Experiencing Pain
Taking things personally is a surefire way of getting your feelings hurt long after an event has happened. You end up replaying the same scenario time and time again, only to grow more upset. The more you replay the more you end up suffering. You are voluntarily giving up your peace of mind to an incident that is long past its prime. So, ask yourself why this event was such a significant part of your history? Were your feelings hurt? Were you embarrassed by the situation? Did your suffering bring joy to someone else, or did their actions determine your self-worth? These are things that should be examined, so you can gain insight as to why you are still experiencing pain from an incident so long ago.
